Description
The following areas were cleaned:
Graceland Avenue from 38th Street to 40th Street, street gutters;
West 39th Street from Boulevard Place to Kenwood Avenue, street gutters;
Kenwood Avenue from 39th Street to 40th Street, west side street gutter;
Kenwood Avenue from 40th Street to beginning of school property
(about one half block), street gutters;
Alley between Boulevard Place and Graceland Avenue from 39th Street to 40th Street;
Alley between Capitol Avenue and Kenwood Avenue from 39th Street to near 40th Street:
Alley between Kenwood Avenue and Illinois Street from 38th Street to 40th Street.
One of the two dumpsters provided through KIB was filled to about three fourths of its capacity, with trash collected during the cleanup. On Monday, after the scheduled cleanup was over, brush from an alley between Illinois Street and Kenwood Avenue was placed into the second dumpster. (This was done by authorized personnel.) After this final addition of debris, the second dumpster was about one half full. No tires were observed in or near the dumpsters when they were in the neighborhood. The two dumpsters have been removed from the neighborhood and the areas where they were at are now fairly clean.
Based upon repeated observation of the area of 38th Street to 42nd Street and Boulevard Place to the alley west of Illinois Street, the cleanliness of the streets and alleys in this area continues to improve. Even so, there is more work to do there. It does not appear that large scale illegal dumping is still occurring in this area.
